Description
RFC5549/RFC8950 specifies a way of announcing IPv4 routes using IPv6 next-hops, allowing networks and IXPs to remove IPv4 link addressing, and reuse that address space more productively. There is a working group at Euro-IX that has tested the interoperability of RFC8950 implementations and lays out the basics of its usage in an IXP environment. A handful of IXPs have already deployed RFC8950 route servers.
